About Kate Oost, PhD

I found my way to clinical psychology out of a desire to minimize health disparities and help people live their most fulfilling lives in spite of the obstacles, stressors, and losses that can sometimes consume our energy and resources. At Bellingham Psychology, I work to help people recognize and cultivate their strengths while better understanding their individual needs and how to meet them. I specialize in working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and relationship issues. I am also very passionate about promoting the health and well-being of LGBTQ individuals, and enjoy working with people of all genders and sexual orientations.

I earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Montana after graduating with a BA from Whitman College. While in graduate school, I was awarded a WPATH student research award, a PEO scholar award, as well as two student research awards from the University of Montana for my contributions to academic literature in the areas of psychotherapy and LGBTQ health. I completed my predoctoral internship at the American Lake VA before completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Seattle VA, specializing in the delivery of teletherapy. All of my clients are welcome to attend their sessions in-person, and I also offer tele sessions for people who may experience difficulty attending in-person appointments. I would be happy to discuss teletherapy further with those who believe this might be a good fit for them.
